Girl commits suicide in Kapisa

AT News Report

MAHMUD-I-RAQI: A young girl has committed suicide in eastern Kapisa province, official said on Sunday.
Chief of Mahmud-i-Raqi district confirmed the incident and said the police had launched investigation.
Abdul Fatah Shafiq said: “The incident took place in Ghafoorkhil area of Mahmud-i-Raqi district on Saturday due to family problems. Reason behind her suicide is yet to be known.”
It is worth mentioning that girls commit suicide after they are forced to marry a person that they don’t like. The helpless Afghan girls are left with no other choice but to take their life before becoming prey of domestic violence.
Awareness programs against forced marriages have been launched by different organizations across Afghanistan, but nothing has been changed on the ground.
