Fetrat’s short movies wins 1st prize in Italy
KABUL: The short film “Do not trust my silence” -- directed by Afghan moviemaker Sahar Fetrat -- has won the first prize at the Universocorto Elba Film Festival in Italy.
Fetrat was awarded "for the extreme courage of reporting Afghan women conditions in the streets of Kabul and for the technique of shooting with hidden camera."
Universocorto (in its eighth edition) is a short film festival for undergraduate and postgraduate students and filmmakers from academies, according to organisers.
The festival is organised by the Italian association “Giovani persone” (Young people) under the artistic direction of Francesco Monceri.
The festival this year was headed by Italian fashion designer Antonio Marras and sponsored by the Italian city of Portoferraio (Elba Island).
The Afghan section is instead headed by Soraya Malek and Emanuele Giordana of the Italian civil society network -- Afgana.
The film tells about street harassment in Kabul and was selected with “I sell coals but I love soccer” to participate in the festival. (PAN)
